Educating Esme Lit Circle 3 This book has definitely been a quick read. I think it’s because it is easy to read and because it is easy to relate to. She lays out all of her emotions, which anyone can relate to, throughout the whole book. In the last section of the book, I really enjoyed when she talked to the troubled kids instead of punishing them. I thought it was really cool that she really wanted to know her children and was interested in helping them. I know that for me, as a student, I really liked when my teachers took time to talk be me because it made me feel important and helped me realize my own self-worth. While I like that Esme helps her students inside and outside of the classroom, I also agree that it is significantly hard for the teachers. In the book, Esme talks about how teachers are more than just teachers to the students. They’re teachers, friends, mothers, fathers, and therapists to the students. Being a teacher is more than just teaching their student’s math or English, they are figures that help mold their students. As beneficial as it would be to be a teacher, I don’t know if I could be one because I don’t know how reliable I could be to a student. I think that’s why I am in awe of the teachers that I have had because I know that they are doing so much to help us.
